Our Story & Expertise
John “Chief” Moriarty
John is a 32-year veteran of Law Enforcement with 24 years of investigative experience. His career began in 1992 as a uniformed patrol officer with the South Carolina Sumter City Police Department. Three years later, he transferred to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) in Maryland as a patrol officer. His commitment and passion for investigative work led to his promotion to a “plain clothes” position with the 3rd District Special Assignment Team, MCPD, in 1999. John was then selected for a position with the MCPD Auto Theft Unit as a Task Force Officer in 2003, where he was detailed to the United States Marshals “Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement” (WAVE) Task Force. In 2007, John was appointed to the MCPD Repeat Offender Unit as the full-time Task Force Officer with the US Marshal Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF). Within the first three years with CARFTF, he assumed the role of the Team Leader for the Greenbelt office of CARFTF.
For a decade, John led the team conducting complex criminal fugitive investigations and apprehending violent fugitives, significantly impacting the Maryland and Washington DC Metropolitan areas. In his last few years with CARFTF, he shifted his focus to “Cold Cases” and international fugitive investigations. John's ability to adapt to diverse situations and his resilience in facing challenges make him a reliable professional. He has participated in a wide range of undercover operations, including narcotics, stolen property, murder for hire, and gang investigations, some of which led to Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act convictions. John is retired as a law enforcement officer but continues to work not only as a private investigator but as an Operational Specialist with a Security Industry Specialist and as a consultant and liaison for Body- Worn Camera Solutions. Additionally, John shares his extensive knowledge and experience as an instructor with Undercover Officers Associations.
